Apply for a university instructor in urban planning before 10.9.

The Faculty of Built Environment (BEN) at Tampere University is looking for a university instructor to join the School of Architecture. BEN conducts high-quality scientific and applied research in the fields of architecture and civil engineering and provides higher education based on this research.

The university instructor will teach and develop courses in urban planning in collaboration with their colleagues at the University. The position is teaching-oriented. The university instructor will perform broad-ranging teaching tasks both at the BSc and MSc levels, develop courses and prepare teaching materials. Urban planning is one of the specialisations available to students working towards a master’s degree in architecture. The university instructor will also undertake research, but the extent of these research activities will depend on the successful candidate’s professional interests and the range of projects underway at the School of Architecture.

The successful candidate will be expected to hold a master’s degree in architecture, landscape architecture or some other applicable field. Tampere University is looking for candidates with strong collaboration and interpersonal skills. The University is especially interested in candidates who have completed courses in university pedagogy, have prior teaching experience and a track record of teaching, and have experience of working and conducting research in the field of urban planning. A good level of English is required and proficiency in the Finnish language will be an advantage.

The anticipated start date for this permanent, full-time position is 1 January 2022 or as mutually agreed.
