Helsinki international Artist Programme (HIAP) invites to join a discussion on Scenography of Horror at Omenapuutalo, Helsinki on Wednesday 10th December 2014 at 18:00. Scenography of Horror is a collaborative project by Patrik Aarnivaara and Maija Rudovska who began their co-operation during a Nordic and Baltic collaboration residency at HIAP in December 2013. Aarnivaara and Rudovska will discuss themes such as spatial narration, screen space, haunted houses (the house as a creature and character), psychogeography and the emotional aspects in relation to space and architecture; the blurring between psychological and physical reality. The Wednesday event will present readings, images and video clips that reveal how architecture in horror films can stage fear, shock and deterrent. Invited commentators are curator Jenni Nurmenniemi (HIAP) and architect Helmi Kajaste whose recent master's thesis explored architecture in cinema and the idea of architecture as an active player and as a subject in relation to man.The event is held in English and it is free and open for all.Patrik Aarnivaara & Maija Rudovska: Scenography of Horror Wednesday, 10 December 2014 between 18–20.
