Open House Helsinki opens doors to buildings and spaces that are normally closed to the public. This year, the festival will also expand to Espoo.

The theme for 2026 is Architectural competitions. The programme showcases a range of sites created through competitions, from buildings to neighbourhoods. The festival is open to all and free of charge, inviting residents to explore, among other places, the developing districts of Hakaniemenranta and Jätkäsaari through guided tours. The programme also features historic areas and buildings, including an exploration of Etu-Töölö's 1920s classicism and early functionalist architecture.

The full programme will be announced on 13 August, and registration will open on 20 August. Read more (in Finnish).

The theme of Open House Helsinki 2026 draws from the Finnish Association of Architects SAFA's 150 Years of Architectural Competitions jubilee programme. The Openhouse ry association was founded by individual Finnish architects in 2009, and the open house event has been organised already since 2001. The main sponsors of the event are the City of Helsinki and the City of Espoo.
