At the Sunila Aalto Homes 2026 event, the residential area designed by Aino and Alvar Aalto is presented through architecture, interior design and design.

The main theme of the event is “Homes at a human scale”. Human scale and the improvement of living conditions were central principles in Aino and Alvar Aalto’s design thinking.

Sunila Aalto Homes will be held for the fourth time in Kotka, on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, surrounded by Sunila’s pine landscape. The event offers an opportunity to explore the Sunila residential area, private homes, seasonal dwellings, and the studios of artists and writers. Residents will be sharing the stories of their homes and everyday life in Sunila.

In addition to exploring the homes, visitors can take part in discussions focusing on Aino Aalto’s design work, the history of Aalto furniture, and the restoration and interior design of homes. The programme is complemented by a Design Flea Market, art exhibitions and guided tours.

Sunila is included in the Finnish Heritage Agency’s UNESCO World Heritage nomination “Aalto Works”, which brings together thirteen significant Aalto sites in Finland.
