Symposium: Nordic House in the Faroe Islands 40 years

A one story modern building with big windows and a roof overlaid with grass in an open field.

The symposium concentrates on the Nordic House, the history of the Faroe Islands, and Nordic cooperation.

The Nordic House in the Faroe Islands celebrated 40 years last May. The house is the largest cultural producer in the Faroe Islands and plays an important role both in the cultural life of the Faroe Islands and for Nordic cultural cooperation in general.

Introductory lecture about the Faroe Islands’ history, culture and building customs and how the house is used today. Norwegian architects Ola Steen and Kolbrún Ragnarsdóttir, who won the house's design competition in 1977, will contribute with some introductory comments.

Short comments about the house by architects from Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. All the architect organisations from these countries have reported participation in the symposium.
