Helsinki Design Week 2026

HDW will take place from 28 August to 6 September 2026, offering a platform to participate in the development of the city and in discussions about it through design.
The 2026 theme of Helsinki Design Week is The Oncoming Other. The idea of encountering encompasses both chance and intentional meetings. The international programme reflects on what happens or what could happen in these encounters, and how do we meet others.
The programme consists of main, partner and satellite events, totalling around 150 each year, spread across the city of Helsinki and online. The festival week includes traditional formats such as PechaKucha evenings, parties, discussions and open spaces. An important part of the programme is the HDW Children’s Design Week, which introduces children to creative fields. Events and schedules will be updated later on the Helsinki Design Week website.
