Our collaboration with Habitare Pro, the professional section of the Habitare fair, continues this year as we curate the programme for its Architecture Focus Day.
The Nordic countries’ leading furniture, design and interior event, Habitare returns to Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre from 2–6 September. Held since 1970, Habitare brings together an extensive programme of international speakers, workshops, launches and networking opportunities alongside the fair’s exhibitors.

A day dedicated to architecture
Habitare Pro is the professional platform within Habitare, bringing together brands, designers, developers and other professionals working across construction, interiors and design. On Friday 4 September, Habitare Pro will host an Architecture Focus Day, with Archinfo acting as the content partner for the second year running.
The day opens with an Ark magazine discussion on the new architecture for the circular economy. This is followed by a keynote from curator and journalist Lev Bratishenko (Canada/UK), who will explore the Venice Architecture Biennale as more than a showcase for architecture – also a stage for ideologies, politics and economics.
The Venice theme continues in a discussion moderated by Bratishenko, focusing on the making of a biennale exhibition and the ideas behind it. Joining architect and curator Kaisa Karvinen, curator of the Finnish Pavilion at the Biennale Architettura 2027, will be the exhibition’s content partner, to be announced on 29 August.
The programme also turns to the recently inscribed World Heritage site Aalto Works. Tommi Lindh, CEO of the Alvar Aalto Foundation, will discuss its international significance and the preservation of the Aalto legacy together with users of three sites included in the World Heritage serial property.
Architectural practices will take the stage at Architect Spotlight Hour, a speed-introduction event giving six different practices three minutes each to present their work. Design brands, meanwhile, will have their say at a similar event, Brands Meet Architects.
The day concludes with the announcement of the winner of the Future Award presented by the Friends Association of the Architecture & Design Museum. Presented to recently graduated architects and designers, the award celebrates the creators of the future and highlights their visions for sustainable design. Three finalists will present their Master’s thesis projects, after which the winner will be announced – followed by a collective toast to the finalists and the Architecture Focus Day.
