How can we make the built environment more circular, beautiful, and inclusive? Could a project from northern Finland inspire others across Europe? The second Bauhaus Goes North Call for Best Practices is now open!

Bauhaus Goes North is a project exploring participatory, sustainable and inclusive co-design to support the transition to a circular, resource-efficient economy in the Northern Periphery and Arctic region. Building on the values of the New European Bauhaus (NEB), it sees circularity in architecture as more than materials and construction: part of a broader, more holistic vision of sustainability.

The project is now inviting existing, innovative examples that advance circularity in the built environment and reflect the NEB values of sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion, with a particular emphasis on circularity and resource efficiency. The selected examples will help share knowledge and make successful approaches easier to adapt and replicate in different communities across the northern regions.

Who can apply?

Municipalities, architecture and planning professionals, universities, communities and circular construction projects are all invited to apply. In Finland, the call is open to actors working in northern Finland. Please check the programme map to confirm geographical eligibility.
