Nordic Pavilion in the Osaka World Expo

At the Nordic Pavilion in the Osaka World Expo, a full-day event will be held on Thursday, 2 October, bringing together Nordic and Japanese experts to explore the role of architecture and design in building trust, human dignity, and connection.

The programme, consisting of six discussions and panels, will examine well-being from various perspectives — ranging from health and inclusion to belonging, social relationships, and collaboration. Throughout the day, experts from both the Nordic countries and Japan will share their insights. Among them are Yuki Ikeguchi (Kengo Kuma & Associates), Dagur Eggertsson (Rintala Eggertsson Architects), Kjetil Trædal Thorsen (Snøhetta), Helle Søholt (Gehl), and Professor Emeritus Yoshinori Hiroi from Kyoto University. Representing Finland are Maiju Suomi and Elina Koivisto from Suomi/Koivisto Architects, along with Heikki Riitahuhta from Studio Puisto.

The event is part of the Nordic countries’ joint programme at the Osaka World Expo and serves as a concrete example of how the region’s nations collaborate on global challenges. The aim of this cooperation is to strengthen the collective Nordic voice and bring key regional values – such as social trust, equality, and community – to the international conversation.

Archinfo is the event’s partner, highlighting Finnish architectural expertise and supporting its international visibility.
