EUmies Awards exhibition in Aaltosiilo

EUmies Awards
EU Mies van der Rohe Awards returns to Oulu with an exhibition presenting the winners and finalists of the 2026 EUmies Awards, announced in April. The exhibition will be presented at Aaltosiilo from 6 to 30 August as part of Oulu’s European Capital of Culture 2026 programme.
The exhibition brings together the awarded projects and finalists of the EUmies Awards 2026, together with a selection of Finnish works nominated for the Prize. The exhibition explores an overview of the key debates shaping contemporary European architecture while creating a connection with the Finnish architectural context. Alongside Aaltosiilo is also hosting Naisia Aalloilla, a photography exhibition by Elina Brotherus, dedicated to the work of Alvar and Aino Aalto.
The exhibition is part of Alvar Aalto Week, a programme featuring lectures, visits and discussions on architecture’s role in contemporary society and the legacy of Alvar Aalto. As part of the programme, Ivan Blasi, Director of the EUmies Awards, will give a presentation on the EUmies Award 2026, outlining the selection process and highlighting the environmental, social and cultural themes discussed by the jury. The event is part of Alvar Aalto Week’s Day in Meri-Toppila programme, which also includes the Oulu–Venice event organised by Archinfo.
